Privacy Policy
Soundkeys ("we", "our", or "the service") is a free educational music keyboard available at soundkeys.org. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you use the service, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Information we collect directly
Soundkeys does not require any account, signup, or personal information to use. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) directly through the application itself. There is no chat, no comments, no user profiles.
2. Information collected by third-party services
2.1 Google AdSense
Soundkeys displays advertisements served by Google AdSense to fund hosting and ongoing development. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to Soundkeys and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
2.2 Visit counter
Soundkeys uses an anonymous visit counter (abacus.jasoncameron.dev) that increments a single global number on each page load. No IP addresses, browsers, or personal data are stored — only an aggregate count. Maintenance and administrative traffic from the site owner is excluded from these aggregate counters.
2.3 Hosting (Cloudflare)
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may collect basic server logs (IP address, browser type, request time) for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
3. Cookies
Soundkeys itself does not set any cookies. However, third-party services (Google AdSense) may set cookies in your browser. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings — Soundkeys will continue to work normally without them.
4. Children's privacy (COPPA)
Soundkeys is designed to be safely usable by children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes that their child has provided personal information to us through Google AdSense or another third-party service, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Parents can ensure a fully ad-free experience by enabling a content blocker — all features of Soundkeys will continue to function normally.
5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you are in the European Union (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have the right to:
- Access any personal data held about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing
- File a complaint with your local data protection authority
Since Soundkeys does not collect personal data directly, these requests should generally be directed to the third-party services listed above (Google, Cloudflare).
6. Data retention
We retain no personal data. Third-party services follow their own retention policies — see their privacy policies for details.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of Soundkeys after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
